We are looking for a Trade Compliance & Logistics Specialist at our Spartanburg, SC location! This position will ensure compliance in accordance with United States import/export regulations (packing lists and shipping invoices). Develop, implement, and maintain internal import and export compliance policies and procedures are aligned with Fortive Policies. Ensure proper transportation modes are being followed and facilitate shipments to ensure they are progressing as planned. In this position you will also lead additional Supply Chain projects as assigned.


Primary duties\:



  • Provide guidance to the business and associates on compliance to regulations

  • Arrange for Custom clearance for import and export material and expedite resolutions to known issues

  • Assign proper EAR/ITAR classification and HTS code documentation for materials shipped and received

  • Generate and meet specialty paperwork requirements including country of origin (COO), free trade agreements and material traceability

  • Assist Order Entry in contract review requirements for compliance items and translation into company processes

  • Develop internal processes that improve the efficiency and service level of import / export and government programs

  • Use structured problem solving and basic troubleshooting techniques to diagnose process failures

  • Conduct audits of compliance processes and lead necessary corrective action responses

  • Stay up to date on current regulations and timing of upcoming changes to import / export and pertinent government compliance programs

  • Maintain and update procedures, processes, and documentation

  • Audit suppliers to make sure proper HTS coding as well as adherence to routing guides

  • Assist in ensuring critical shipments are running on schedule an interject when needed

  • Work with Order Entry / 3rd Party packaging suppliers to ensure proper modes of transportation are used

  • Submit and keep records of government licenses

  • Be a gatekeeper for government websites required for trade compliance

  • Develop and implement logistics spend visibility and supplier performance metrics to assure business results are measured and achieved

  • Establish logistics provider performance requirements and provide appropriate feedback and business reviews

  • Drive shipment consolidation

  • Review logistic costs and invoices

  • Actively participate in commodity team decision-making, negotiations, and implementations




  • Inform, convince, and persuade others to action on key initiatives

  • Detail oriented and able to consistently produce high quality results in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective planning, organization, and leadership skills

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills

  • Ability & experience interfacing at all levels of the organization

  • Willingness to work in a matrix organization with direct & indirect reporting relationships

  • Ability to achieve excellent results with minimal supervision




  • Education\: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in sourcing, logistics, supply chain, trade compliance or procurement roles. MS/MBA preferred.
