Job Description

This role plays a critical role in supporting the company’s global trade compliance operations, with a primary focus on HTS classification and ensuring accurate import/export documentation. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Global Trade Process, Security & Compliance, this role will manage classification processes, lead tariff engineering initiatives, and serve as the system and process owner for HTS classification. The Senior Manager will also provide broader support to the Sr. Manager as needed, contributing to strategic compliance initiatives, and acting as a backup resource.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

HTS Classification Leadership:

Own and manage HTS classification processes across the corporation.

Oversee external classification subcontractors to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

 

Maintain and enhance classification systems, tools, and documentation.

 

Tariff Engineering & Product Collaboration:

Lead tariff engineering workshops with product development and engineering teams.

Advise on product design implications related to duty optimization and classification strategy.

 

System & Process Ownership:

Serve as global owner of HTS classification systems and processes.

Develop and maintain SOPs, governance frameworks, and training materials.

 

Import/Export Documentation Compliance:

Ensure accurate and complete documentation for all import and export transactions.

 

Collaborate with internal teams to validate product data, country of origin, valuation, and licensing requirements.

 

Regulatory Oversight & Support:

Monitor changes in trade regulations and assess business impact.

Conduct internal audits and support external audits related to trade compliance.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Backup Support:

Partner with Legal, Supply Chain, Logistics, Product Development, and Finance teams.

Provide backup support to the Sr. Manager of Global Trade Process, Security & Compliance on strategic initiatives and leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (required).

  • Proven experience managing classification subcontractors and leading cross-functional workshops.

  • Strong understanding of global trade regulations and customs procedures.

  • Experience with trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS, Oracle GTM).

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Consulting experience is a plus.

 

Experience and Education:

 

Experience: 10+ years of experience in global trade compliance, with deep expertise in HTS classification and import/export documentation.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree
